A nutritious mixed grain dish which can be served as a snack or accompaniment.


  • 1 cup sorghum, ½ cup groundnut, ½ cup cowpeas; or
  • 1 cup maize, 1 cup cowpeas, 1 cup groundnuts; or
  • 1 cup cowpeas, 1 cup nyimo, 1 cup groundnuts, 1 cup sorghum;


  1. After soaking the grains overnight boil them separately until they are tender.
  2. Combine all of the grains and boil for 30 minutes.
  3. Season and serve with a dressing of olive oil, lemon juice and chopped fresh chives or parsley if desired.
